Breaking News SCR13 Passed in Senate!
After a number of speeches, both for and against SCR13, the resolution was called for a vote and Passed 19 to 12. The roll call is posted below, so I encourage everyone to take note of the decanters.
This bill was not about left or right, but was about what is constitutionally right or wrong. Repeatedly, the term “partnership” was used on both sides of the debate, and in reality, State sovereignty is just that: Two separate governments each with their assigned duties and powers. Washington has vastly overstepped those bounds, and must be reminded as such. One senator described this overreaching of power while miming a gun pointed at his head; a feeling many of us share today.
This resolution will now be passed on to committee in the democratically held House of Representatives, where it should be passed. Please prepare to reach out to your representatives and urge them to agree with the wise actions of the State Senate today. Resolutions reasserting State sovereignty have been passed, or are being considered, in over 35 other States. This national movement will continue, and as Ohioans we should be proud to be on the right side of this important movement.
